About Girls Coding Academy

  Girls Coding Academy is a startup movement founded by women within the Computer Science field. The academy is dedicated to educating, mentoring, innovating and equipping young women and girls with technological skills by club program, campus program and summer immersion. Our mission is to reduce the gender gap by engaging and encouraging young women and girls to participate in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM fields.  

Founder

Maneo Mapharisa

The founder of Girls Coding Academy. She is a 4th year Student studying Computer Science at National University of Lesotho. She is inspired to teach girls how to code because it is awesome! Additionally,providing girls with coding skills will help build foundations for life long skills they can apply in any field of study.

Co-Founder

Nkentso Ledimo

Born and raised in Lesotho, she then travelled around the world to pursue her further studies, work and embrace new cultures. She studied Computer Science in Ireland and then continued to live and work within the IT social entrepreneurship communities in Portugal, Germany and Denmark where she speaks the local languages too. She also played a major role in Digital integration when the EU saw a major influx of the Syrians refugees flooding into Europe. In between, Nkentso has been attending coding bootcamps in the United States as a way of keeping her IT skills upgraded. Currently based in Lesotho, she is the founder and director of Astranet IT Services & Solutions Ltd.
